Instructional Coaches

The Instructional Coaches are in charge of staff development and serve as a resource for teachers, students and parents at our school. Their particular expertise is in the area of literacy and math. In addition, the Instructional Coach mentors all first, second and third year teachers new to Littleton Public Schools.

Meet Mrs. Andrews - Instructional Coach

My name is Lindsay Andrews and I am an Instructional Coach at East Elementary. I am a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University with B.S. degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. My Master's degree is in reading from The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. I have been a classroom teacher for grades Kindergarten, 2nd and 3rd grades and have been a reading specialist for grades K-7. I have served as a Literacy Resource Teacher at East Elementary for 2 years and am starting my 6th year as an Instructional Coach.

Meet Mrs. Sara Green - Instructional Coach

My name is Sara Green and I am also an instructional Coach at East. I am a graduate of Illinois State Univerisity with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education and Special Ed. My Master's degree is in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in English as a Second Language from The University of Colorado, Denver. I have been a Title I Math teacher at East for 16 years. Half of my position is with Math Recovery.

Read Alouds

What's The Best Way?

Read aloud as often as you possibly can.
Set aside a specific time each day for reading aloud.
Start with picture books and gradually build to novels.
Read aloud from a variety of materials - fiction, nonfiction, books and magazines, poetry, etc.
Read books that you love.
Consider the intellectual, social and emotional levels of the listeners as you choose books.
Find a comfortable place to read.
Make sure children can see pictures easily.
Be willing to stop for discussion during and after the story.
Adjust your pace to fit the story.
Use plenty of expression. If possible, change your tone of voice to fit the story.
Feel free to reread favorite stories.
