Writing
In writing we will discover what it means to be a writer and explore ideas to write about. We will also be pracitcing our letter formations.

IGR
IGR will begin in a couple of weeks after we have determined the appropriate level of all of the 1st graders. After it begins, please make sure your child is bringing home their book bag and is reading their independent book for 15-20 minutes each night. This daily reading practice is important for your child and will help them become even better readers!

Social Studies/Science
During the months of August and September we will be learning about our school and classroom communities. We will discuss the importance of rules and laws and how they help us to have a safe environment for learning and play. We will also explore different characteristics of mammals. Be sure to watch for information about our Zoo field trip.

Monday Folders
Please remember to look for the red Monday Folder each week, and return it to school the following day. Important school information is sent home in this folder as well as Monday Math homework, which is due each Tuesday.

Please keep in mind that in Colorado, the weather is always changing! Please make sure that your child has a coat, hat, and gloves to wear on those cold days!
